Ishidori festival is known as a crazy festival of Kuwana-city. It is held at Kasuga shrine. It was originally an event to dedicate stones picked at Machiya-gawa river, then people turned the event into this festival.
The main part of this festival is on the first Saturday and Sunday of August. It is said that Ishidori festival has started since Edo period. They have 43 floats. Not a lot of festivals have as much floats as Ishidori festival does, so it is known as one of the noisiest festival in Japan, and it is one of the reasons why this festival is registered as the nation's designated significant intangible folklore cultural assets.
